Here are some free or reduced costs legal services if you do not quality for legal aid but cannot afford legal services:

The Legal Collective offers free legal consultations to individuals who cannot afford private legal services and do not qualify for government legal aid. They cover various legal issues, including housing law, family law, general civil law, immigration law, employment law, and criminal and penal law. In addition to legal consultations, they provide psychosocial support and socio-legal accompaniment, offering emotional and technical assistance during legal proceedings. Juripop provides legal services to low-income households who do not qualify for Legal Aid at a rate of $65 per hour. Services include legal assistance, court representation, drafting documents, and accompaniment in mediation and negotiation. Justice Pro Bono provides free legal services to individuals and non-profit organizations who lack the resources to access legal assistance. They mobilize volunteer lawyers and notaries to offer support in areas such as family law, immigration law, and general legal assistance. Ricochet is a homeless shelter providing essential services to individuals experiencing homelessness. They offer safe and secure accommodation, support services, and resources to help individuals transition out of homelessness. Corbeille de Pain is a community organization dedicated to alleviating food insecurity and promoting healthy eating and community well-being. They provide essential services such as food banks, community kitchens, and educational programs on nutrition and cooking. During the summer, they also offer a series of pay-what-you-can Solidarity Markets, which aim to make nutritious, locally grown food accessible to people in vulnerable situations. Dorval Community Aid offers support to Dorval residents in need through various services, including food assistance, financial aid, and referrals to other community resources. On Rock Community Services is an organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families facing food insecurity. Their services include a food bank that assists approximately 300 families weekly, a community diner offering low-cost meals, a school lunch program providing healthy meals to children who need them, a thrift store and a pay-what-you-can café called Le Spot Café. Centre Bienvenue is an organization that supports individuals with mental health issues by offering a variety of services. These include transitional supervised housing, community activities for social integration, and various support resources like discussion groups and guidance. They also provide employment support programs in collaboration with the Centre Jeanne Sauvé and organize recreational activities and workshops to promote healthy lifestyles. Local Community Service Centers (CLSC) offer a range of mental health services to individuals and families. Services include psychological support, counseling, crisis intervention, mental health assessments, and referrals to specialized care. Community Perspective in Mental Health (CPMH) provides essential mental health services to adults residing in the West Island. CPMH offers long-term support, typically three months or more, to help individuals with chronic mental health conditions such as depression, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. Their services include personalized community support, home visits, and assistance with daily living skills and coping strategies. They help individuals in the entire process of securing affordable housing, including planning, researching, budgeting, and organizing home visits. Omega Community Resources is an organization dedicated to supporting adults experiencing mental health challenges. They offer a variety of services, including a day centre, group home, and supervised apartments. The day centre provides educational, therapeutic, and recreational activities to promote social interaction and reduce isolation. The group home offers a transitional living space with 24-hour supervision and comprehensive support services. The supervised apartments provide long-term independent housing with on-site staff support. Admission to their programs requires a referral from a health professional. West Island Crisis Centre provides comprehensive crisis intervention services for adults experiencing situational crises, emotional distress, or suicidal thoughts. They offer a 24/7 crisis line, on-site crisis intervention, short-term housing to help individuals regain control, and post-crisis follow-up to prevent relapse. West Island CALACS offers support and services to survivors of sexual assault. Their services include individual counseling, support groups, and accompaniment through legal and medical procedures. West Island Women’s Shelter offers a range of services to support women and children escaping domestic violence. They provide a safe and confidential shelter, a 24/7 crisis line, counselling, legal assistance, and transitional apartments for those who need longer-term assistance. Additionally, they offer external counselling services, support groups for relatives and friends of victims, and community awareness programs. Accompagnement Bénévole de l’Ouest (ABOVAS) offers volunteer-based transport services to residents of Montreal’s West Island who are in vulnerable situations. These services are free of charge and include accompaniment to both medical and social appointments. Elder Abuse Line provides confidential support and assistance to seniors experiencing abuse or mistreatment. Services include emotional support, information, referrals to appropriate resources, and help in developing a safety plan. Trained professionals are available to listen and offer guidance. West Island Citizen Advocacy (WICA) offers support to vulnerable individuals in the community. They offer services including volunteer matching for individuals with limiting conditions, permanent housing and support for adults with mental health issues through the Community Apartment Program (CAP), opportunities for art creation through the Rendez-Vous Arts project, senior advocacy, practical support for vulnerable seniors through the Seniors Liaisons project, income tax services, and free courses and training for volunteers and the community.
